This term we are learning how to read time. Because I don’t know how to….But it has been pretty easy so I don’t mind learning about it. But today we had to draw an analogue clock in a number line. Then say what we do in the time from 8am – 9am. Have a great day🎀 ✨Carys✨🎀

For the past few weeks we have been learning about Ki O Rahi. The story and how to play. We haven’t finished the animation. But this is how far we have got. I only played a few games but it’s so fun. I wish I played more. It was hard to understand the rules. But I got it after a while. I enjoyed making the animation with Maniya , Nyah. Even though at times it was hard to find the right photo. I don’t really like having the ball because then I get scared and throw it. So next time I will try to run with the ball. Instead of getting scared.

Today we had strike come to our school. They are a percussion music group. In the morning we went down to the library to read. We had just been told a band is coming called Strike. I didn’t know anything about the band. But when we were in the library we could see them setting up. It didn’t look like other bands. With a drum guitar and singers. They had drums hanging from scaffolding and cook island drums, Marimba. Then we walked out of the library and you could see how excited everyone was. As you are lining up you can hear everyone talking. Like what is it about? who are they?When you walk in they have hype music playing and everyone sits downs. They say who they are and then they show what they can play. They do songs with no talking. Then they got Matua Travis and Urmi to verse. They had to use the instrument on a count.  Then they get a solo. At the end after both then the crowd gets to vote. They did the same with students. You cant really explain how the music goes but if you ever hear Strike is coming to your school or town ect. Go because it is a great experience.

Zoos are a fun family trip. But it’s not fun for the animals. I am here to show you why there are many benefits but also many downsides of zoos.

Animals in the wild are eaten and hunted by each other. But that’s just natural in the ecosystem. In zoos animals die from starvation due to the stressful situations in the enclosures. Animals will  change their eating habits with serious changes to the brain. 

I believe that some zoos should be accountable for animal cruelty like having small cages, wrong food, forced to do tricks and lonely. In Zimbabwe they stopped feeding the animals because of the food prices. Also in Australia they make there seals perform tricks for people and the koalas are being forced to be held and have photos taken with them.  

There are many new things now in zoos. Orana Park has big spaces and feeds the animals on food they will find in their habitat. They try to include visitors by feeding the giraffes. It’s a fun and new way for people to learn the needs of the animals and interact with them. 

People have many different opinions on zoos. My parents they are both 100% for it. My Mother and Father think that people are able to learn more about animals. That might start someone thinking about becoming a vet, or maybe research about protecting endangered animals. 

Breeding programs in zoos can help with preventing extinction. Bring joy and information to the community when they come to see the baby animals. The babies are fed and taking care of by staff. 

But in a story called “The Zoo Debate” it had things for each side o the debate like zoos teach people about animals and their nature environments. But then people can also learn as much about animals from tv shows and books. I don’t think that’s true. Seeing animals in real life is a experience you can never forget and you see how they can overcome problems they face in the wild. 

My opinion is that in the case of zoos you have to think about the situation  That doesn’t mean we should get rid of zoos but we just have to make sure they are safe for the animals. Everyone should be able to be happy. 

But also I have the slides we did which i think shows more of the process.

 

 

 

Last week we had danni and Laura come to teach food 4 thought. They are from the heart foundation. Teaching us to eat balanced. When they left the next week we had to remember everything we learnt. Then turn that into a google draw it was about is this or not a good balanced meal. We had to add things but otherwise they were good. Have a nice day thanks you for reading .✨Carys✨

This week we had to make a Bento box. This year our learning is based around being healthy and active. That also means we eat healthy. the first weeks we had dani and laura from the heart foundation came to visit us and teach us . like  four food groups, reading labels and ect. so we had a test to make the perfect lunch. it contains firbe iron engry and dairy to help with bones. This is part two of my maths work this term. Scratch coding is a lot harder than I thought. Finding out the right angles are harder than it looks. This time we didn’t have a video we had to look at a photo of some shapes then try to recreate them.

 

This is the final step of part two. It’s harder than any other thing I have done. I’m not really good at coding so when there no code I get stuck.  First we had to figure out the degrees. It was a right angle so it was 90 degrees. Then you can choose the step it just makes the steps bigger or smaller. Thank you for reading. From ✨CARYS✨

This term at school we have been doing CRT activiedes. We have worked with Jude twise. She had been doing stuff about New Zealand native birds. The first time we had her in we made questions about a bird that you got to pick. Then she made a khoot for use to do next time. This time she showed us what she had made.
